Chesterfield County FOP Lodge 47

It is an honor and privilege to serve as the new Chapter President of the Chesterfield County Fraternal Order Police (FOP) Lodge #47. During my lifetime, I've been led by the scripture, James 2:14-17, which reminds me that in serving others, we strengthen our faith. As a servant leader, I have three guiding principles: stewardship, building community, and helping others. As President, my goal will be to ensure FOP Lodge #47 meets the mission of the Fraternal Order of Police, thereby, upholding the highest standards of excellence to support those within the law enforcement profession.

As the Director of Training, Education and Certification (TEC), I hold the rank of Sergeant First Class with the Chesterfield County Sheriffs Office and have served there for over 11 years. After 28 years of service in the United States Army, I retired with the rank of Sergeant Major. I have also served as President of the Blue Knights of Virginia Chapter XVII and participated in local service events within the Chesterfield County community. As the former Sergeant-at-Arms for FOP Lodge#47 for 5+ years, I understand the dynamics of working with a team to lead a prestigious organization.

Recruitment, Membership, and Service to the Community
As we transition into the New Year, my goal will be to restore and increase membership, further enabling service to others with quality and positive impact. We must reach out to those who have since fallen by the wayside and share the mission of being a partner and resource to the law enforcement community during critical times of need. We have a great brother and sisterhood, and I look forward to restoring all alliances within the County's leadership.

Historically, the Auxiliary and Associate Lodges were a focal point for family and community service. My goal is to recruit more civilians and restart these essential lodges. In doing so, we leverage greater partnership and support. As the FOP facility is undergoing renovation, we will have community space for events to welcome, support, and inspire Police Officers, Deputy Sheriffs and surrounding law enforcement. We can act through education, training, and social activities. Change is coming, however; we must be prepared (and willing to work for it).

As we consider the future, our past remains vital. Continuing our service legacy and partnership with local businesses, we will continue with Shop with a Cop and Wreaths Across America. Let's work together to provide our largest annual donation to The Law Enforcement Memorial, for those who paid the ultimate sacrifice here in Chesterfield County. Aside from these cornerstones, we collaborate and donate to so many other charities.

Are you looking for a great organization to join? If so, the Chesterfield FOP Lodge#47 is the place for you. We look forward to you joining our ranks. I am excited about the future and welcome your input, wisdom, and experience to help me throughout my tenure as President.

Fraternally,
Theodore 'Teddy' Night
