It is my honor to introduce myself as the new President of Chesterfield Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 47. This is the first time in the nearly 40-year history of this lodge that there has been a woman as president. I have been on the Executive Board for nearly 20 years and have worked my way up from Trustee, to Secretary to Vice President. I enjoy being a part of an organization that is for law enforcement and the community and whose membership is comprised of law enforcement and individuals of the community who wish to support us.

We are truly a brother and sisterhood. We do what we can to help those members in need as well as the community in which we live and work. It is an organization you can be proud to be a part of.

My goal is to continue to grow this organization not just with those of law enforcement, but with members of the community. Our lodge has very involved and supportive Auxiliary and Associate lodges. The Auxiliary Lodge consists of family members of our law enforcement officers. The Associate Lodge is for members of the community who want to be involved and support those in law enforcement and the causes we believe in. I am happy to say that the citizens of Chesterfield have always been very supportive of law enforcement. I would like to see that continue and to get more of those who live and work in Chesterfield involved in our organization.

The lodge holds and contributes to some very worthwhile charitable causes. Each year we host Christmas with a Cop. We sponsor approximately 40 children that we shop with at Walmart to get clothes and toys at no cost to them. We contribute to Wreaths Across America to help ensure that every veterans gravesite at the Veterans Cemetery in Amelia has a wreath placed on their grave in December. We also donate to the CASA Superhero Run, Special Olympics and the Law Enforcement Memorial just to name a few.

I would like to acknowledge that most of the contributions to these causes are made possible by the generous donations of our citizens and businesses in our community. During our yearly fund drive, they unselfishly contribute to our charitable foundation. As you browse through the magazine, you will see articles about some of these causes.
